Bend both your knees slightly when you skate - even if its just gliding. Bending your knees will keep your feet/skates right under you. Keep your head up - dont look at the ice. Dont lean too much forward, in other words dont stick out your rear. Keep your arms out in front of you at 10:10 or 2:50 as on a clock, they are your balancing poles. The more you skate, the more balanced youll get.
He continued to talk about the extreme coordination needed to do the tricks. We discussed a little of the neurology involved. And after thinking about it, I have to agree. Now I dont claim to know everything about all sports, but this I do know skate boarding is very demanding on coordination, balance, and skill.
If you are a beginner skater, you may want to go out and buy the biggest skate board ramp available, but unless you want to become good friends with the ground (and possibly your emergency room) you will want to start out with something smaller.
