There are the superstars of skateboarding, such as Tony Hawk, Shaun White, Rodney Mullen, and Ryan Sheckler, have brought their sport directly into homes around the world. Not only are clothing lines prevalent with these superstars endorsements, there are also videos games, shoes, and equipment. Since the popularity of the sport continues to rise, these names will eventually be replaced by others. With that will come more clothing lines and other name brand merchandise.
The exact birth date of skateboarding is not known, it is believed to have emerged in the late 1940s to early 1950s. Regarded as a dry land alternative for surfers, the first skateboards started as wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels attached to the bottom. The boxes then developed to become planks and then further evolved to become pressed layers of wood manufactured by companies. In this era, skateboarding often took the name of Sidewalk Surfing.
Maybe your child might be spending a lot of time in front of the T.V. or more likely on the computer playing video games. Getting on skates either at the rink or outside will give your child a fun way to move around and strengthen the legs and heart. Teaching your child to roller skate, instills into your child a sense of balance. As a child gets older, there are a lot of sports that require balance. Bicycling, skate boarding, etc will be learned a lot easier if they have first learned to skate. But most importantly learning to skate early in the life of a child helps the child to increase their confidence and opens the possibilities for them to experiment with other sports and activities they might never have tried.
