Skateboarding can have great impact to the underside of the foot. It can lead to stress injuries in the arch, heel and ankle. Most of the shoes are created with this fact in mind. Most of these shoes contain highly-absorbent padding in certain areas. Air pockets or special cushioning in the rear can help to prevent heel bruises. Arch strains can be reduced with mid-foot structures.
Use your knees and ankles to accelerate. While gliding, have both knees and ankles slightly bent. Turn one foot out to push with the side of your blade and extend that leg -- straighten the leg that you are pushing with. Then bring your feet back together in with the knees and ankles slightly bent again. Then repeat the whole process by pushing with the opposite leg. Remember to use your knees and ankles. You accelerate by bending and extending your joints.
If you are more than a casual boarder, then you may benefit from going to a skate park with some regularity to see some talented people. You are going to feel as though you dont belong there at first, but you will soon be joining them and keeping up. The most important thing to do is get out there and see how to be better. Everyone was once like you, and avid people are usually willing to help you get off the ground. They will also have good information about how you can make great purchases for your skate boarding hobby
