He continued to talk about the extreme coordination needed to do the tricks. We discussed a little of the neurology involved. And after thinking about it, I have to agree. Now I dont claim to know everything about all sports, but this I do know skate boarding is very demanding on coordination, balance, and skill.
Put each sock completely on your foot while standing solely on the other. If you have to move your grounded foot around or hop around to keep your balance, your balance is probably not up to the basics of a reasonable figure skater. Most figure skaters dont need to move from the spot while on one leg. Also, another test is to close your eyes and stand absolutely steady for a half minute; have someone tell you whether you swayed at all or whether you were still able to keep perfect balance. This will be worth knowing if you are a figure skater.
Get a ramp that is durable. Skating is not a sport that is easy on anything. Combine that with your ramp being out in the elements and you know you need something durable. Sturdy plastic ramps work great for beginners. They are durable and relatively inexpensive. You can also get some larger straight angle wood skate board ramps that work really well to learn on.
However, getting a pair of reasonably priced shoes is not difficult. You will be able to find them in most department stores and more recently on the online stores. There are a number of brands that come cheaper than the top brands but they are equally as good if you have no intention of heading down the professional lane. Always remember that the priority of your choice is to prevent injuries to your feet.
