There seems to be a rise in fashionable skate shoes of late. However, for the skateboarder who is working towards becoming a professional, they will only look at those that are made for the specific purpose. The perfect pair is normally triple-stitched to prevent ripping. It fits snugly in size with a thick sole as it can protect them against injuries. There are a number of famous brands in the market today that have included additional features such as the air-pocket inner sole that gives better support as well as the push for the skateboarder. Lace loops are added to help keep the shoelaces in the shoe to prevent skaters from falling and tumbling due to loose laces.
Get a ramp that is durable. Skating is not a sport that is easy on anything. Combine that with your ramp being out in the elements and you know you need something durable. Sturdy plastic ramps work great for beginners. They are durable and relatively inexpensive. You can also get some larger straight angle wood skate board ramps that work really well to learn on.
No matter what type of board you get, youll have to think about the way youre standing. This is the basis for riding and any trick that youll perform. It is the default position you take and will have for the majority of the time. Its easy to get lazy or otherwise stop thinking about your position on the board, but dont let yourself do this. Have people watch you if necessary as well so that you can make sure you are doing the right thing. You want to learn tricks properly the first time too. You want your dominant foot to be the one in the rear. This will allow you to balance yourself better but also use your weight more accurately to maneuver yourself around on the board. If you dont already know your dominant foot, you can determine which one it is by falling forward. Whichever one you use to catch yourself from falling on the floor is the one youre looking for.
The more you skate the better your balance. In time you will develop strong abs. These muscles are formed by just simply standing on the ice. You might not be aware of it but by just standing on the ice you are using your abs. But I would also recommend that you do yoga and pilates as off ice training for balance. Now you can use the new revolutionized Wii fit balance board; it is awesome. It features four main areas: yoga, strength training, aerobic exercise, balance training. It is not a replacement for off-ice training, however, it can be helpful.
